tangled in love

“Being able to feel safe with other people is probably
the single most important aspect of mental health;
safe connections are fundamental to meaningful and satisfying lives.”
Bessel A. van der Kolk

Well, of course.
I could not send out a newsletter without mentioning that my son,
Will, married his sweetheart, Chanel, last weekend.

They seem to really understand connection.
What it requires and how one needs to work at it.
They asked me to share the following during their ceremony.

From Instructions for Life in the New Millennium by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risks.
And a loving atmosphere in your home, is the foundation for your life.
Be gentle with the Earth, be gentle with one another.
When disagreements come up remember always to protect the spirit of your union.

When you realize you’ve made a mistake, do your best to correct it.
Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each
other exceeds your need for each other.
So, love yourselves, love one another,
love all that is your life together and all else will follow.

I wish you strong, loving and healthy connections to the Earth,
to your families and friends and to your very own spirit.

On another note…
You might be considering gifting (or getting) something hand crafted, singular and well made to celebrate a milestone, a commitment or waking up breathing. A bolo tie is a fabulous idea. The two pictured here are missing their tips because I want to cut the leather to fit the client, then apply the tips. The recess ring is set with a peridot, and sold, but I can make one for you. The cuff is called tangled in love. Two separate pieces of sterling wire, but constructed in a way that keeps them together. Connections. Also shown are a few of the  Community is Essential rings, the a “wild wand” and a warrior cuff.  All solid, reclaimed, recycled sterling silver (except the one gold filled bolo), crafted by hand in my Elkins Park, Pennsylvania studio.

Thanks for walking with me.

Amy
