What do you know for certain?

As a fifty six year old woman I can say three things with certainty.

  1. Nothing is certain.
  2. Everything is temporary.
  3. I’d do just about anything for my kids.

I came by this perspective just like most folks learn their life lessons, from mentors, teachers and a keen sense of awareness.  But the above three statements can be directly linked to my friendships with Barb Silcox and Linda Bond.  Perhaps not directly dictated by them, but through their exceptional devotion and their courteous disregard for the status quo.  Because of their impact on my life, I’ve decided to make them my Clients of the Month Posthumously.  Barb who passed over in May of this year and Linda passed over in July of 2009, were mother and sister, respectively.

Barb had five kids of her own, and one of them was a close friend for a short while in high school, but she must have seen in me the gullible, the naive and the wild nature, so that she took some mercy on.  She drove a pick up truck, rode a horse – bareback -, she didn’t care what people thought or said about her and she worked harder than any woman I’ve ever known.  Clearly this little blog could never do her justice, but I would like to say, Barb wasn’t a woman to cry or hug or say “I Love You”… she was a woman who took care of the business of living her life, her way, with no explaining.

Linda sort of had two things in common with Barb; the not overly affectionate thing and living life her way.  Linda was a lover of good food, a good drink, a good smoke and fabulous style.  She loves her son and daughter in what I can only describe as a “Sixties Mom Lets it Fly” way.  Supervision was not always necessary, but a sense of survival was.  And sometimes it’s these gifts that we give our children that start off as errors, turn into magical lessons that ring deepest with love.  Because we know deep down, that nothing is certain, and everything is temporary but barring any severe mental breakdown, we all would do just about anything for our children.

It’s the opportunity to live my life, with no explanations and little to regret, that is the real lesson from these woman.   Thank You Barb & Linda. See you on the other side~

Love You!
