“To make change in this world, we don’t have to solve it all – but each of us do need to do Something, that Thing that only we can bring to the table. Our own unique curve, fingerprint, night vision. Robert Jay Lifton says that in these wildly changing times, we are seeking “to be both fluid and grounded, however tenuous that combination.” Amy Ragsdale’s designs embody that balancing act. In an arc of physics, she creates pieces that are grounded in her own lived philosophy while at the same time looking and feeling like that first spark of energy, or a cresting wave. When I wear Amy’s jewelry (or read her writing or see her photos) I am reminded of her unique imprint, of my own, and that where there are two or five or a million of us, together our gifts can create something strong in this world.
