words, work & wisdom

I had the good fortune to meet both of them, albeit briefly.  Long enough for the obligatory fawning and then to hand Richard a sterling twisted ring and John a sterling twisted cuff.

My first memory of music messing with my heart was in 1972, when I spent my summer mornings laying in the back yard listening to WMMR.  The Byrds, Dylan, Cream, The Band, Bonnie Raitt and Jesse Colin Young.  I recall this feeling of guilt;  I was receiving an immense amount of joy, and doing absolutely nothing to deserve it.  Just laying underneath a willow tree, listening to blue jays and Tom Rush.  I sincerely felt like crying.

So, this April, with the budding magnolia and robins darting around, I am honoring the artists who write songs, play their instruments and sing their hearts out.  Take the time, spend the money, go out and hear some live music!

Thank You Richard and John.
