wouldn’t it be nice

There is a woman I have known for just about ten years.  When I say “known”, I mean we have meandering through Bucks County, dined at old inns, watched movies and supporting each others businesses. We also have stood witness to the other side of the friend spectrum; sharing our ancient fears and deepest sorrows.  I call her Sis.

Sis fell in love and married in her thirties. She had a few prior relationships but nothing that felt strong and safe and nurturing like the friendship she had with this fellow.  He pursued her, wooed her, comforted her and appreciated her.  He was her man and she responded in kind.  Next year they will be celebrating twenty years of marriage.

I am friends with her husband too.  He kisses me on each cheek every time we meet and every time we say goodbye.  A true gentleman and a fabulous cook.  So it was fascinating to me when I noticed that Sis never calls him by his name.  She almost always refers to him as ‘my husband’.  I was curious as to what was behind the title.  A few months ago I pointed this out to her we had a conversation about why she does that.  We think we have figured it out…

Sis refers to her husband as her husband
as a declaration that being married is nice.

as the song goes…

We could be married
And then we’d be happy
Oh, wouldn’t it be nice?

I just needed a little love story today and thought perhaps you would enjoy one too.
Would you like to share yours?

Thanks for walking with me,
Amy

The symbols of relationships are almost as old as man/womankind. Above you will see work I’ve done for my clients, including Engagement Rings and Wedding Bands, Fortis Pendants and Guardian Cuffs.  The coquette earrings in gold are made from a wedding band that my client held onto after her husband passed away.  She wanted to keep it close, but was not sure in what way.  If you have a significant piece that you do not/can not wear send me a photo and we can have a complimentary consultation about how to honor it.

Have some ideas?  Give me a call:  215-542-7570
